Constantine XI Palaiologos was born in his own city of Constantinople on February 8, 1404. He a very interesting family origin from his mother's side, Helena Dragaš. Her mother was the daughter of the Serbian prince. Some even say Helena is the daughter of the Bulgarian emperor Ivan Alexander. So Constantine XI was born with royalty. Before the Fall of Constantinople, Constantine XI said , " Constantinople was his life." He also wrote his last letter to Mehmed, " As it is clear that thy now is desired is more war than peace, I turn now and look alone to God. However I release thee from all thy own and treaties with me and closing the gates of my capital. I will defend my people to the last drop of my blood." That famous quote gave Constantine XI the respect he has earned. Unfortunately, Constantine XI Palaiologos died during the battle of the Fall of Constantinople at the age 48. He was true war veteran.

Constantine was a emperor none will ever forget. He protected his people with every bit he had within himself. He was the one who had the lives of his people in the fate og his hand. But sadly he would not prevail.
